KRISTINA - A Knowledge-Based Information Agent with Social Competence and Human Interaction Capabilities

The objective of the EU-project KRISTINA (A Knowledge-Based Information Agent with Social Competence and Human Interaction Capabilities) is to develop and improve a knowledge based multilingual technical agent competent in social interaction. The virtual agent will function as an intelligent care assistant. Therefore, it not only has to be able to understand the needs of the users concerning language, mimic and gesture and interpret them correctly, but it alsoneeds to be able reply appropriately. For the development of KRISTINA, state of the art technology in the fields of dialogue management and multimodal communication analysis (language, mimic, gesture), is merged with problem. orientated decisionmaking-guidance and the supply of large information platforms. Within the scope of the project, KRISTINA will be tested in the following use cases: (1) People with a Turkish migration background over 60 years in need of care, who live in Germany, their relatives and care givers who are in contact with those people in need of care, (2) Polish 24h-caregivers in Germany, (3) people with North-african migration background in Spain. Data security and ethical issues in this new type of human-machine interaction in a medical and care context have to be considered.
