Antimicrobial Effects of Rhizoplaca melanophthalma (DC.) LeuckertPoelt Extracts

Extracts of Rhizoplaca melanophthalma, obtained with different methods, were tested against plant and human pathogenic bacterial strains. Results indicate that extracts obtained with successive extraction have comparable to streptomycin antimicrobial effects in few bacteria, while total extract and fractions from this, have less potent antimicrobial activities in more bacteria.
