An analytical calculation for the elastic opening of the cantilever ends of the double cantilever beam specimens under an external couple of forces is commonly performed using the beam theory. In this case, the ligament deformation of the specimen is not taken into account. The effect of elastic deformation of the double cantilever beam specimen ligament on displacements of the cantilever ends under the external load is analyzed in the paper. It is shown that an additional displacement of the cantilever ends can reach 28% of the value calculated by the beam theory. With an increase in the cantilever length, the increment of the cantilever deflection due to the ligament deformation decreases rapidly. Therefore, the contribution of the ligament to the opening of the cantilever ends from a certain length hardly changes.
