The paper present research results on the effect of the formation of the a + S(Al_2CuMg) eutectics on the change in the structural state of the Al-10% SiC composite under hot forging of a cup-shaped piece. It has been found that the appearance of a melt by the reaction a + S(Al_2CuMg) → L when the composite is heated to above 534°C heals the micropores in the regions of SiC particle aggregation, which arise after sintering. Under loading during hot deformation the melt fills the interparticle spaces and contributes to the disintegration of the honeycomb structure. Herewith, besides part shaping there occurs composite hardening due to matrix-filler diffusion interaction with the formation of Al_4C_3 and Al_4SiC_4 compounds.
