Analysis on the influencing factors of faults at the remote end impacting the UHV interconnected power grid

After the Central China grid getting connected with the North China grid through the UHVAC demonstration project, a new phenomenon is discovered according to some simulations. That is, the faults at the remote end of the UHV interconnected grid results in significant power fluctuation and voltage drop on the UHV transmission line and even system splitting. But the faults near the UHV line only have marginal effects. In this paper, the detail was introduced, and a three-generator equivalent system was built to analyse this phenomenon. The results show that both angle difference and the rotational inertia of the generators have effect on it. This paper also indicates that modifying the mode of operation or the unit commitment is helpful to improve the system stability.
