Silver and gold nanocrystals have been the object of intensive research in recent years owing to their enormous potential in sensing [1] and energy-harvesting applications. In particular, silver nanocubes have gained increasing interest for their sharp corners that provide an intense and reproducible amplification of the Raman signal (typically of 5-7 orders of magnitude) when they are densely assembled in ordered 2D structures on solid supports [2,3].
