Effect on group counseling for university freshmen after their psychological survey

Objective: In order to offer beneficial references for mental health education and consultation in college, we probe into a way of group psychological consulting which can overcome single interview defect after investigating the freshmen's psychological heath since there may exist various psychological problems and blocks among the new comers in college. Methods: 372 freshmen, who were screened out through the survey of mental health, were taken as the objects of study, and their SCL-90 scores were taken as the research index to test the results of group counseling by statistical methods. Results: Scores of interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety and obsessive-compulsive dropped sharply among the new comers after group counseling, and T test reached the significant level. Conclusion: Group counseling had the remarkable effect on students' Psychological adjustment.
