The analysis of developmental capability of ecology-economical system based on ecological footprint mode in Sichuan province, China

To quantitatively evaluate dynamic variation of the sustainable development degree of Sichuan Province and its affecting factors, time sequence of ecological footprint (EF) from 1990 to 2008, the paper calculated the dynamic variations of the EF, ecological budget and ecological benefit and their driving mechanisms. Results showed the EF increased from 1.1421 to 1.3162 and ecological capacity reduced from 0.5639 to 0.2890 during the period, and that ecological deficit and the ecological benefit per capita increased year by year. The multiple index of ecosystem increased from 1.1107 to 1.3265, and the developmental ability index increased from 1.2685 to 1.6932. The existence of ecological deficit reflected the unsustainability of the development model in Sichuan Province. The increasing ecological benefit (per capita) showed the enhancement of the benefit of natural resource and the reduction of environmental pollution. Finally, based on analysis of the causes of the ecological deficit, measures were taken to reduce and eliminate the ecological deficit in Sichuan Province.
