Negative Formulations of Biblical Parables' Structure

The purpose of this paper is to analyse negation in the structure of biblical parables, from a linguistic perspective. Not all languages have the same availability as Romanian language in the use of negation. Most handy arguments are those related to the double negation, unsupported in ancient languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, Latin). Of all old ,,holy" languages, the Romanian translations were made, only Slavonic accepts the double negation. It is true that it is used in the most frequent sources in Romanian Church of the Middle Ages, but it is also true is that these Slavic versions followed the letter and the spirit of the other ancient and sacred languages. Germanic languages do not allow double negation, and modern Anglo-Saxon languages developed real periphrastic strategies to avoid even the simple negation. However, all of these were, in one way or another marks for the Romanian translators, who did not use, but in accurate situations the many possibilities our language offered [1].
