The concentration of human growth hormone (hGH) varies from high levels of 50-100 ng mL-1 to minimum levels of 0.03 ng mL-1 in blood. The misuse of recombinant hGH (rhGH) in sports has become a chronic problem. Surface plasmon resonance imaging (SPRi) is an analytical tool that allows you too directly (label-free) monitor and visualize biomolecular interactions by recording changes of the refractive index adjacent to the sensor surface in real time. To increase detection sensitivity, amplified SPRi uses a sandwich assay format and takes advantage of near infrared quantum dots (QDs).
