In this study, genome-wide analysis of the gene expression and genome-wide analysis of the spatial distribution and methylation state of CpG sites located on upstream of the gene are performed using publicly available data. The genes with significant changes in mean expression level between tumor tissue and normal tissue were obtained (group 1), and the same number of group 1 genes have been randomly selected (group 2). The mean spatial distribution of CpG sites obtained from group 1 shows good agreement with that of group 2. However, the mean spatial DNA methylation profile obtained from group 1 is different from that obtained from group 2. These results suggest that not only DNA methylation but also unknown factor may affect the regulation of gene expression.
