In this paper,ultrasound (US) was employed as a non-invasive and on-demand control approach to modulate the release behavior of poly(lactic acid)-b-poly(ethylene glycol) (PELA) microcapsules containing lysozyme (Lyz).Release kinetics of the Lyz was monitored by UV spectrophotometer.It was found that US can trigger release of the encapsulated Lyz from the PELA microcapsules.US actuation had a slight influence on the enzymatic activity,but not significant.Based on the results obtained,an irreversible release mechanism under US was proposed.The irreversible release of Lyz from the PELA microcapsules was attributed to the physical disruption of microcapsule by US.
