Preparation of Monodispersed Nanocrystalline Titania Using a Simple Synthetic Route

A titania (TiO_2) precursor was first prepared by hydrolysis of the titanium complex in acetone solution. Then monodispersed nanocrystalline TiO_2 particles were obtained via calcination of the precursor at appropriate temperatures. The structural properties of as-prepared particles were investigated by using thermogravimetry (TG), differential thermal analysis (DTA), X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), respectively. Structural characterization indicates that these nanocrystalline TiO_2 was anatase phase and the average particle size was about 20 nm. Moreover, this simple and cheap synthetic route was suitable for large-scale synthesis of TiO_2 nanoparticles.
