A heterogeneous object modeling method has been presented to design and represent free-form heterogeneous objects. The presented method utilizes Non Uniform Rational B-Spline (NURBS) to represent both geometric and material features of a heterogeneous object. The relationship between geometric and material features is determined by solving an objective function and a set of geometric and material constraints based on the given property requirements of the object. Relations between geometry and material features are established and maintained in a prototype design model, called an initial model. Variant designs are created from the initial model by modifying the geometric features where the material features automatically update themselves. The implementation and examples are also presented in this paper.
