Based on the categories of uncertainty and certainty in law, their nature is studied and "soft" models are formed. Special attention is paid to the role of abstraction and formalization in law education. Uncertainty is considered from two sides of the properties of law: positive and negative. The basic concepts are specified by examples from the Russian practice of law enforcement. The possibilities of using artificial intelligence to improve the efficiency and validity of legal decisions are shown.
