The objectives of this research were to find a theoretical model to measure the success of the implementation of an Information System (IS) on a construction site and to carry out empirical research to verify the use of the chosen model. A case study was conducted on a construction site in Dublin which aimed to answer the research question 'What components of an Information System contribute to its successful implementation on construction sites?' It was found that DeLone & McLean's (D & M) (2003) Information System success model was the most suitable model for use in the context of the construction industry. The case study found that the implementation of the studied system was a failure with 27% of the users trained on the system not using it in the 140 days between their initial training and when this research was conducted, with a failure in hardware being cited as the main contributing factor. The D & M IS success model (2003) was validated as a viable method of assessing the implementation of an IS in the context of the construction industry.
