Voice assistance technology is entering the everyday lives of everyone as Amazon, Google, Samsung, Microsoft and others have entered the space. Local media is an expected and critical part of these new ecosystems and luckily there are many opportunities and economies of scale available. However there are some problems that have been encountered and anticipated through practical experience. Additionally, this paper looks into the future and identifies some short term areas where local media should take advantage of this new technology to augment and enhance existing broadcasts.
