Reducing vehicle weight plays an important role in achieving CO_2 targets. The proportion of plastic components in the exterior area is steadily increasing and can therefore make a significant contribution to weight reduction. This contribution deals with the issue of how the TIM method (thermoplastic injection molding) can bring about a reduction in the density / weight of a structural component while at the same time meeting specification requirements.
