摘要

This paper presents a unique methodology using structure-borne vibration measurements to monitor noise at Royal Opera House (ROH) during what is known as the Open Up development project. The project has seen a significant amount of construction works carried out within the existing building which has involved re-arranging the interior of the ROH building by drilling and cutting into sections of the existing structure. The auditorium within ROH remained open for regular scheduled performances during the entire demolition and construction process. The associated noise had to be sufficiently controlled to allow continuing use of the auditorium and also a large number of rehearsal performance spaces where quiet conditions are paramount and essential to daily activities.
