Evaluation of Injectable Vitamin and Mineral Supplementation During Dry Period, in the Improvement of Milk Production in Holstein Cows

Metabolic changes during the transition period increase plasmatic oxidative substances, which interfere on immunological and productive process, as well as udder health in dairy cows (Agarwal et al., 2012; Stefanon et al., 2005). The liposoluble vitamins and minerals' extra supply is necessary during transition (NRC, 2001). This study evaluated the effect of an injectable supplement containing vitamins (Vitamin A and Vitamin E) and minerals (Copper, Zinc, Manganese and Selenium) during the dry period on milk quality and yield in Holstein cows.
