Enhancement of PCB Design for Radiated Immunity Compliance in Analog Signal Measurement

As Electronic industry is progressing through the decades, electronic products tend to become increasingly complex. One of the major challenges in the industry today is to design products with Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) in the given size and cost. In order to ensure a certain product meets global norms related to Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and EMC there are specific standards which a product has to comply. Such a challenging standard is IEC61000-4-3 which is the International Standard for Radiated, Radio Frequency, and Electromagnetic field immunity test. Radiated immunity is especially demanding in products without a metal body, polycarbonate or other plastics provide no shielding against electromagnetic radiation. Due to constraints in size and cost the PCB design should be optimum so as to provide maximum immunity against radiation. Very low power analog signals are highly susceptible to radiated noise, operational amplifier circuits malfunction if susceptible to radiation. In this research work various improvements done in the PCB design of the operational amplifier section to achieve radiated immunity in a previously non complaint design is shown.
