The biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) of different types of raw wastewater including industrial and domestic wastewater in Jordan were studied using manometric method for a period of 20 days in the year 2018. This paper evaluates different BOD kinetic parameters estimation methods to determine the best method to be used (BOD20, L). Mathematical methods were used to determine the ultimate BOD (mg/L) and constant rate (per day) by using the Thomas, Iteration and GMM methods. The study revealed that the mean ultimate BOD value for the slaughterhouse samples was the highest and the wastewater samples from all the three locations were classified as strong water. Furthermore, it was found that GMM method was the best method for estimating the first order BOD kinetic parameters while Thomas method was the least favorable method.
