Connecting to neural network induced electric signals at the intracellular level deep in the brain is a major technology challenge. Other challenges relate to targeted drug delivery across the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and high-specificity intracellular penetration for cancer treatment. Capability to create pinpoint treatment at the intracellular level. Overcoming these challenges could pave the way to treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, brain tumors, and last but not least, reverse-engineering the brain.
