Vanadium pentoxide (V_2O_5) supported by nanographene platelets (NGP) was prepared as a promising visible light catalyst by co-precipitation technique. Weight % (wt.%) of NGP loading into V_2O_5/NGP composites was varied from 5 to 15 wt.% of NGP. The prepared V_2O_5/NGP composites were characterized by several measurements, including X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activity of the orthorhombic and graphitic structure of V_2O_5/NGP composites was tested using methylene blue (MB) as a target of organic molecule. After a 2-hour irradiation, pure V_2O_5 exhibited photocatalytic response under visible light irradiation. The presence of NGP in V_2O_5/NGP composites further improved the photocatalytic performance of the prepared samples. The best photocatalytic performance was reached after the addition of 10 wt.% NGP loading.
