GREEN SYNTHESIS OF VANADIUM PENTOXIDE (V2O5) NANORODS USING OCIMUM SANCTUM PLANT LEAF EXTRACT AND ITS PHOTOCATALYTIC ACTIVITY AGAINST METHYLENE BLUE DYE.
GREEN SYNTHESIS OF VANADIUM PENTOXIDE (V2O5) NANORODS USING OCIMUM SANCTUM PLANT LEAF EXTRACT AND ITS PHOTOCATALYTIC ACTIVITY AGAINST METHYLENE BLUE DYE.
In this study, rapid, simple approach was applied for synthesis of Vanadium Pentoxide (V2O5) nanorods using Ocimum Sanctum aqueous leaf extract. The plant extract acts both.as reducing as well as capping agent. To identify the compounds responsible for reduction of Vanadium ions, the functional groups present in plant extract were investigated by FTR Various techniques used to characterize synthesized nanoparticles are SEM, XRD, FTIR, EDS and UV-Visible spectroscopy. UV-Visible spectrophotometer showed absorbance peak in range of 350-370 nm. The Vanadium; Pentoxide nanorods showed photocatalytic acitivity against methylene blue dye. Results; confirmed this protocol as simple, rapid, one step, eco-friendly, nontoxic and alternative conventional physical/chemical methods. Only 24 hrs were required for the conversion of ammonium Meta vanadate into Vanadium Pentoxide (V2O5) nanorods, without the involvement of any hazardous chemical.
