摘要

x265 is the fastest HEVC encoder version used for real time encoding of videos having different motion content. In encoding, motion estimation is more time consuming part where different block search algorithms are applied to find suitable motion vector. Hexagonal search method has improved performance of encoding to very high level with coarse and fine search involved in it. Proposed algorithm which is improvement to Directional Hexagonal search mainly focuses on maintaining the quality of encoded video with reduction in number of search points. Experimental results are taken on different types of test video sequences at different quantization levels show that on an average there is a decrease in encoding time and increase in PSNR value with slight increase in bit rate.
