Optimization of the blending process for ABS/PMMA/EMA via response surface methodology

摘要

In this work, an experimental investigation on impact strength and surface glossiness of Acrylonitrile-Butadienestyrene (ABS)/Poly (methylmethacrylate) (PMMA)/Ethylene methacrylate (EMA) blend has been conducted. The effect of blending parameters such as screw rotation speed, hopper temperature and EMA content on impact strength and surface glossiness is optimized Via Response Surface Methodology (RSM). The mathematical models for impact strength and surface glossiness are established between the parameters and the responses. The adequacy of the models is tested using the sequential F-test, lack-of-fit test and the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) technique. According to the desired optimization criteria, the optimal blending parameters are obtained, and the results present an acceptable agreement between predicted and experimental values.
