摘要

In dogs, squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the second most common oral cancer 20-30% (following melanoma).1 Non-tonsillar SCC is more common with less invasion and rare metastasis.2 Approximately 80% of dogs with non-tonsillar SCC have a favourable prognosis and only 19% develop metastasis.3 Gingiva is the most common site for non-tonsillar SCC, while cancers on the tongue occur less frequently. Tonsillar SCC is rare and has aggressive local invasion with metastasis. Most dogs with non-tonsillar SCC have a good prognosis after surgical or radiation therapy.
