Noise Sensitivities in Dogs: An Exploration of Signs in Dogs With and Without Musculoskeletal Pain

Noise sensitivity is a common behaviour problem hi dogs, the onset of which may be associated with a range of medical conditions. In humans, there is a well-established but complex relationship between painful conditions and the development of fear-related avoidance responses, however, while there are reasons for believing that a relationship exists between noise sensitivity and pain in dogs, this does not appear to have been investigated. The aim of the current study was to use qualitative thematicanalysis to compare the case histories of dogs presented for noise sensitivity where an identifiable pain focus was present or absent.
