1. Label production and labelling operations are prone to static failures. 2. Four Failure Modes: 1) Peeling separates large amounts of static. 2) Peeling separates top label surface from bottom liner surface. 3) Sparks damage thin, silicone layers. 4) Labels are wimps compares with webs. 3. Mitigation Methods: 1. Improve upstream static control so materials are charge-free entering peeling. 2. Dissipate static from peeling. 3. Avoid "balanced charge" when winding rolls or stacking labels.
