To apply hemicyanine dyes on silk and create fluorescent fabrics, a novel hemicyanine fluorescent reactive dye (Dyel) was designed and synthesized. The synthesis of this dye was achieved by the modification of the free amino group of a hemicyanine fluorescent dye (DEASPCl-N (AE)), reacting with cyanuric chloride. The dye was fully characterized by using 1H-NMR, HRMS, UV-visible and single-photon fluorescence spectra. The application of the prepared dye to silk fabrics was carried out using the exhaustion method. High degree of color fastness to washing and light were achievable. Silk fabric dyed with Dyel exhibited excellent fluorescent properties and could be used as fluorescent clothing.
