SPD can be used to repair corrosion damage and that the resultant repaired structure has a dramatically increased fatigue life. (4 load cases, > 7 times increase). SPD has the potential to reduce the crack growth rate of a hole containing intergranular corrosion to a level of a of a hole without intergranular cracks. SPD can be applied to stress corroded cracked frame structures to restore the design load carrying capacity.
