摘要

Chlorine is widely used as a disinfectant to treat drinking water and more generally to inactivate microorganisms in many human activities. But its high reactivity with natural organic matter leads to the formation of harmful disinfection by-products (DBPs) that are now regulated in many countries. Since the detection of chloroform in water disinfected by chlorine, some countries have used monochloramine (NH2Cl) as an alternative disinfectant because of its higher stability in system networks and its lower reactivity towards natural organic matter.
