A simple model of a boat equipped with a pair of two identical oars and moving in a fluid is considered. The oars perform periodic translational motions relative to the body. Resistance forces acting upon the moving bodies are directed opposite to their velocities and proportional to the squared velocities. Possible progressive motions of the system, including cyclical motions, are analyzed.
