This paper presents a hybrid random number generator (HRNG) based on a combination of discrete-time chaotic oscillator and a linear feedback shift register (LFSR). The chaotic oscillator is designed and simulated using a 0.18μm CMOS technology with a supply voltage of 1.8 V. The chaotic dynamics is verified in time domain and analyzed to show the suitable properties of true randomness source. A random signal is produced by the chaotic oscillator and then, to increases the randomness; the signal is combined with LFSR signal through XOR gate. The throughput of the HRNG is 1Mbit/s and the randomness is tested using NIST statistical tests.
