Anterior Tibialis Tendon of Insertion Injury:Seen in four adult working German Shepherds (that have been screened for dysplasia prior to service selection). Owners, say that they "bunny hop", have difficulty getting up, don't want to jump up or stand on the hind limbs, no obvious gait abnormality is readily apparent, and no limb deformity or abnormal stance is readily apparent. A visually subtle but apparent thickening of the tendon of insertion of the anterior tibialis muscle is appreciated. This thickening or "cording" is often present bilaterally, although one side is usually more severe. The tendon does not appear to be contracted with a secondary mechanical gait such as you might see with a gracilis or semitendinosis contracture. These patients usually present at a subacute/chronic stage.
