1. A Brownfield process technology, HybriTech, was presented as a means of significantly reducing the costs associated with cellulosic sugars production: 1.1. A significant reduction in mixed sugars transfer price was demonstrated compared to a Greenfield plant; 2. Brownfield modelling with coproduct valuation has a significant benefit on the project economics; 3. Glycerol treatments improved the sugars yields following saccharification of mixed southern hardwood; 4. High value chemicals may open opportunities for projects with high rates of return when integrated to a low cost sugar platform; 5. Repurposing idled P&P assets is a cost effective opportunity to reduce the capital intensiveness of biorefinery projects; 6. This study demonstrated the benefits of repurposing assets for CAPEX reduction in combination with Brownfield integration and efficient fractionation technology, Glycell, for production of high value succinic acid from low cost sugars.
