摘要

Mechanical performance of wood-based composites is determined by the mechanical properties of their individual components and the effective load transfer between these components. In laminated wood composites the adhesive bondline facilitates this load transfer and holds the laminates together. The bulk composite performance can be partially contributed to the bondline's own stiffness and bonding efficacy with the adherends. An understanding how the adhesive contributes mechanically to the bulk composite material will allow adhesive and composite manufacturers to better formulate and construct their products.
