The Food Security Bill: Giving Priority to Farmers and Farming

The Food Security Bill was introduced in Lok Sabha in 2011. It was referred to the Standing Committee on Food and Public Distribution and on July 5, 2013 an Ordinance was promulgated. There was an all-round expectation that the National Food SecurityAct (NFSA) 2013 would be complete, comprehensive and guarantee real food security to the majority of people and make India hunger-free.
