Research on urban competitiveness based on factor analysis - a case study of Hebei Province

Due to the advent of information technology and the rapid development of economic globalization, cities play a more significant role in the countries and regions, and competitions among cities are becoming increasingly fierce. This paper firstly explains the context of urban competitiveness and the new characteristics it presents, and analyzes the meaning and essence of urban competitiveness; then it proposes an evaluation system of urban competitiveness according to the principles of scientificity, comprehensiveness, feasibility. hierarchy, comparability, and relative stability of establishing an assessment system; finally, it uses SPSS software and conducts an integral analysis of 11 cities in Hebei Province based on the data of Hebei Statistic Yearbook and proposes related solutions according to the analysis results.
