In the process of achieving a cold shutdown following the shutdown of Hamaoka Nuclear Power Station Unit 5 on May 14, 2011, a high volume of seawater flowed into the reactor facilities due to damage to the main condenser tubes. Investigations focusing on the corrosion of materials had been conducted through various methods, examination of actual equipment, material tests, cleaning tests, and inspection of the RPV and its components. Based on these investigations, we evaluated the impact on the reactor facilities due to the inflow of seawater. These evaluations have been undertaken with advice from experts.
