The goal of this report is to present an investigation carried out on the durability of ROOFMATE SL thermal insulation XPS (extruded polystyrene) boards on inverted roofs which are approximately 30 years old. An overall inspection of board conditions in the inverted roofs at several job-sites has been carried out, as well as an experimental assessment in the lab of their moisture content and their thermal conductivity. Conclusions have been established based on the analysis of the obtained results. They focus on the construction layout, highlighting aspects which can introduce changes to help meet the expectations for hygrothermal and mechanical protection.
