Femtoliter-scale reactor and its application for Fiber Processing

摘要

The electrospray can generate small liquid droplets with a distribution of their diameter around 1～10 μm (volume: 0.5～500 femtoliter). Furthermore, liquid droplets of the electrospray are electrically charged and the trajectories of the droplets are controlled by the electric field. Therefore, the resulting charged liquid droplets can be controlled as a femtoliter-scale reaction field. In this study, electrically charged droplets were utilized as “femtoliter-scale reactor” for dyeing and antibacterial treatment of fibers (cloth and yarn) with low environmental impact because of no waste fluid.
