Differential Mobility Analyzer is an essential equipment for aerosol research and applications. DMA has played an important role in classifying the mono-dispersed particles from the poly-disperse particles by electrical mobility. Its working range covers nano-meters to sub-micrometers. Several different types of DMA have been developed and widely used. In general, DMA consists of two concentric cylindrical columns. In this configuration, a long column is needed for a large size particle generation or separation. To overcome this problem, we developed a toroidal type DMA. With the configuration and height of 8, width of 14 cm, the operating range become similar to standard long DMA.
