Biomechatronic Platform to Assess the Mechanical Response of Human Wrist Joint under Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation

A biomechatronic platform is presented that is conceived to serve as a tool for biomechanical assessment at human wrist joint level during neuromuscular electrical stimulation. The biomechatronic platform allows studies aimed to identify the relation between electrical stimulation characteristics and artificially generated motion, at flexo-extension of wrist. Basic components of the platform are described and their characterization and application is presented. In particular, preliminary experiments of motion analysis (kinematics and kinetics measures) are reported.
