Power transformers are one of the important components in power system. The insulation used in transformers is of solid and liquid insulation. Solid insulation paper degrades because of thermal ageing, moisture, oxidation, faults etc., and produces furanic derivatives that are dissolved along with transformer oil. The real issue confronted with mineral oil is that it is inadequately biodegradable and could bring about genuine pollution of soil and conduits if spillages happen. In this work, an exertion has been made to examine the antioxidant potential against furan derivative, artificially generated in natural esters using ultraviolet spectrophotometry. Furanic derivatives in natural oil with and without the addition of antioxidants are correlated with UV-visible spectral property. Spectra examination has been done to inspect the linearity between furanic derivatives and pinnacle retention additionally to decide the level of thermal degradation of insulation system.
