ATTITUDE, INTENTION, AND BEHAVIOR TOWARDS ELECTRONIC PIRACY: INSIGHTS FROM LITERATURE

Electronic piracy is a critical threat to digital industries. Given the challenging nature of electronic piracy, it has become imperative for researchers to identify factors that affect this phenomenon. The study presents a comprehensive review of extant literature on around four important electronic piracy variables: the attitude toward piracy, the intention to pirate, piracy behavior and the piracy rate. The literature review suggests that researchers tend to adopt similar if not identical approaches in their research, overlooking many other important issues that are of importance for practice. Our review serves as an important stepping stone in understanding various issues related to electronic piracy.
