Heterogeneities in epoxy networks can be introduced from the addition of crosslinked polymer microparticles (CPMs). The CPMs used were synthesized by precipitation polymerization via a reaction induced phase separation phenomenon which gives perfectly spherical microparticles with a narrow diameter size distribution. Their influence and particularly their surface contribution once dispersed in an epoxy-amine reactive formulation is investigated on the global network build-up. The resulting morphology and dynamic mechanical properties of the as prepared networks will be described.
