Study on the Influence of Transmission System on the Electric Vehicle Performance

For the goal of the electric vehicle economy efficiency, the shifting rules of two gear transmission and the continuously variable transmission (CVT) are analyzed in this paper. The simulation models of a fixed speed ratio gearbox, a two speed ratio gearbox and a CVT are established based on different road cycles to achieve the corresponding simulation results. According to the simulation results, the rules of high efficiency working points in the map of motor torque vs speed by different transmission system based on different cycles are obtained. And then, the influence rules of different transmission system on the electric vehicle dynamic and economy are achieved. The conclusion is that the EV with CVT can improve overall energy consumption around 5% to 201 based on the used driving cycles.
