摘要

An experimental study was carried out on a passenger car diesel engine fueled with hutanol-diesel blends.Combustion and emissions of the engine were analyzed under varied loads at the rated speed with the fuels blencled with butanol by three volume ratios (i.e.,0,20%,and 40%of butanol).The results indicated that,compared with the neat diesel,the peak cylinder pressure and the peak heat release rate increased slightly with the blends at high load and the rated engine speed,and the maximum in-cylinder mean temperature rose mildly for the blends.At the light engine loads,the ignition delay period of the blends was longer than that of the neat diesel.Furthermore,it became shorter than that of the neat diesel with the increase of the engine load.In addition,the combustion duration of the blends was shorter than that of the neat diesel.Importantly,with the use of the blends,the engine smoke level was significantly reduced while the NOx,CO,and HC emissions of the blends were slightly higher than those of the neat diesel.In summary,the diesel fuel hlended with a high percentage of butanol can be directly used on a passenger car diesel engine without any design modification,which is an advantage to apply butanol fuels for internal combustion engines.
